through the National Park, and if the weather is clear, you’ll see Denali. During the early part of the trip, keep a sharp lookout for the most impressive animal in the park - the Alaskan moose, largest in the world, weighing up to 1600 pounds. It’s possible that you’ll see Dall sheep on the mountainsides, caribous anywhere above the treeline, eagles soaring above and grizzly brown bears too! It’s possible to also see and hear howling wolves in the distance. As you travel over mountain passes, the highest points offer expansive views of the Alaska Range on the horizon. This morning, at 7:00 am, dock at Juneau, Alaska. Located at the foot of grand mountain peaks on the Gastineau Channel, the town of Juneau has the massive Mendenhall Glacier and the immense Juneau Icefields at its back door. Juneau is the place to let your imagination run wild. Explore the lush Tongass National Forest, visit the rustic shops in town, or get out and kayak, dogsled, raft, hike, or whale watch. Set sail for Skagway at 1:15 pm. As you cruise to Skagway, enjoy cruising the Sawyer Glacier. Tucked away at the end of the remarkable Tracy Arm fjord are two very active reminders of the Ice Age - the twin Sawyer Glaciers, calving icebergs into the jade-colored inland sea, and Kittiwakes, a mountain where seals are a common sight and even whales and bears may make an appearance.

Victoria & Butchart Gardens Tour

Enjoy a day tour to visit Victoria and the Butchart Gardens.

Victoria exudes old-world charm and fragrant and colourful flowers are everywhere. Founded in 1843 by James Douglas of the Hudson's Bay Company, the city was first known as Fort Victoria. By 1848, Vancouver Island was a British colony and Victoria was its capital.

In 1858, Victoria was a tent city and the base for some 25,000 prospectors on their way to the Frasier River gold fields. When Vancouver Island was incorporated with mainland British Columbia in 1868, Victoria became the capital of the entire province.

Although it's a port city, Victoria is not as industrially oriented as Vancouver. The harbours, especially Inner Harbour, are dotted with pleasure craft, ferries and floatplanes. The city is renowned for its beautiful gardens, charming houses and very British feel.

Rocky Mountaineer Rail (Vancouver to Kamloops)

Travel aboard the Rocky Mountaineer from the coastal city of Vancouver to the interior’s largest city, Kamloops. On today’s journey, you will see dramatic changes in scenery from the lush green fields of the Fraser River Valley, through forests and winding river canyons surrounded by the peaks of the Coastal Mountains, to the desert- like environment of the interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and snow sheds along the Thompson River. Your day concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer travels along the shores of Kamloops Lake and into your overnight destination, Kamloops. The train departs at 7.30am and arrives at 5.35pm

Today’s highlights include Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3,954 metres (12,972 feet), Pyramid Falls, as well as the climb over Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park. Your rail journey ends upon arrival in the town of Jasper this evening. The train departs at 8.10am and arrives at 6.10pm

Start the morning with a refreshing hike in Maligne Canyon, one of the world’s largest and deepest limestone gorges crisscrossed by 6 narrow bridges. At the Columbia Icefield, ride the “Ice Explorer” on Athabasca Glacier or visit the Glacier Skywalk!
